A place of supreme natural beauty, North Head is home to varied flora and fauna. Whilst topside you might stumble across an echidna and endangered populations of eastern long-nosed bandicoots, below the water on a dive or snorkel you might bump into little penguins, weedy sea dragons, and spot endangered seagrass – a vital underwater plant in the fight against climate change. The waters directly in front of Quarantine Beach and the wharf precinct are part of North Harbour (Sydney) Aquatic Reserve, making them a rich environment for underwater exploration.
Dive Centre Manly is a multi-award winning PADI 5 Star Instructor training facility and offer a complete range of dive courses from Discover Scuba to Instructor and beyond.
With Q Stations wharf and beach access, the diving options for boat or shore dives are endless. Dive Centre Manly runs Discover Scuba Experience’s right from Quarantine Beach, snorkel trails, and beach clean-ups. Alternatively, jump on a boat and explore Old Man’s Hat North Head, a site located just next to Q Station’s old hospital and isolation precincts. With caves, swim-through, incredible Gorgonian sea fans, soft corals and an assortment of sealife – nudibranchs, weedy sea dragons, wobbegong sharks, bull rays, moray eels, large crayfish, blue gropers – there’s ample to see right on Q Station’s doorstep.
